Depois de tantos acontecimentos e atrasos, finalmente temos a t\u00e3o aguardada copa do mundo! E como foi a abertura? Quais foram as figuras que deram as caras? Vem pra primeira not\u00edcia descobrir.<\/p>\n

Actor Morgan Freeman has surprised the public by playing a starring role in the FIFA World Cup\u2019s opening ceremony \u2013 having been the face of its rival, the USA, when competing for hosting rights of the tournament back in 2010.<\/em>
\n<\/em>
\n<\/em>Qatar ultimately, and controversially, beat the US, Japan, South Korea and Australia at the time but Morgan\u2019s presence was not forgotten, especially his famous slip-up when he forgot to read one whole page of the speech. Consequently, several media figures noted how bizarre it was to see the actor play such an important role during the Qatari cerimony.<\/em><\/p>\n

However, his presence at the cerimony was not the only thing that was talked about. The opening event cost multiple millions of dollars with the presence of artists including Jung Kook from BTS, who delivered a beautiful presentation, and dozens of other performers, but BBC completely ignored the event.<\/em><\/p>\n

The network decided to not broadcast the event at all and instead reported on the corruption allegations and human rights violations, with the vocal participation of presenters, commmentators and even former players on the matter, reaching the conclusion that it is impossible to separate politics from soccer.<\/em><\/p>\n

After a few minutes, the channel went back to discussing strategies, lineups and predictions about the games.<\/em><\/p>\n

E vamos de dica de phrasal verb que vira substativo, que eu sei que todo mundo gosta! Ele t\u00e1 aqui na frase:<\/p>\n

Especially his famous slip-up when he forgot to read one whole page of the speech.<\/p>\n

Aqui, estamos falando do famoso erro do Morgan Freeman quando ele esqueceu de ler uma p\u00e1gina inteira do discurso. Aqui, usamos \u201cslip-up\u201d como substativo, um erro acidental, uma escorregada. Olha s\u00f3 mais um exemplo:<\/p>\n

They scored a point because of Ron\u2019s <\/em>slip-up<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Eles fizeram um ponto por causa do erro do Ron.<\/p>\n

Mas, como eu disse l\u00e1 no in\u00edcio, esse \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m um phrasal verb. Voc\u00ea consegue imaginar o que significa? Isso mesmo, \u201cslip up\u201d quer dizer errar, cometer um engano, dar uma escorregada. Olha o exemplo:<\/p>\n

I <\/em>slipped up<\/em><\/strong> and forgot to invite Gary.<\/em><\/p>\n

Eu me enganei e esqueci de convidar o Gary.<\/p>\n

Ou ent\u00e3o<\/p>\n

Kyle always slips up when he\u2019s calculating these things.<\/em><\/p>\n

O Kyle sempre erra quando calcula essas coisas.<\/p>\n

And I always slip up when I try to read the word paralelepipedo!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Quem n\u00e3o gostava de aulas de laborat\u00f3rio na escola? Essas aulas diferentes s\u00e3o normalmente uma aventura, mas as vezes pode acontecer de uma aventura ir longe demais. Vamos ver o que aconteceu l\u00e1 na Austr\u00e1lia.<\/p>\n

Two primary school students suffered serious burns to their face and chest and were taken to hospital after a science experiment conducted outdoors in high winds went wrong at a school in Sydney.<\/em><\/p>\n

They were among 11 students and one adult, the teacher, injured in the incident at Manly West public school on Monday afternoon. One of the students with serious burns was airlifted to the nearest children\u2019s hospital while the other student was taken to that hospital by ambulance.<\/em><\/p>\n

The nine other students and the adult were taken to the Northern Beaches hospitals by their parents and school staff, all in stable condition.<\/em><\/p>\n

The so-called \u201ccarbon sugar snake\u201d science experiment, which they were working on that day, typically involves ingredients such as bicarbonate soda, sugar, and a flammable liquid to trigger chemical reactions that create a long, blackened carbon sugar \u201csnake\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Com certeza esse dia nunca vai ser esquecido pelos alunos, pais e membros da equipe! Tomara que todo mundo continue est\u00e1vel e chegue logo em casa!<\/p>\n

Pra segunda dica temos uma preposi\u00e7\u00e3o muito repetida aqui nessa not\u00edcia, pra gente lembrar como ela funciona e quando n\u00f3s usamos. A preposi\u00e7\u00e3o da vez \u00e9 o \u201cby\u201d, que foi usado de duas formas diferentes aqui na not\u00edcia. A primeira forma foi para indicar qual meio de transporte foi usado pra chegar em algum lugar, aqui nessa frase:<\/p>\n

The other student was taken to the hospital by ambulance.<\/p>\n

O outro aluno foi levado ao hospital de ambul\u00e2ncia.<\/p>\n

O \u201cby\u201d pode ser usado em frases como:<\/p>\n

My mom goes to work by bus.<\/em><\/p>\n

Minha m\u00e3e vai ao trabalho de \u00f4nibus.<\/p>\n

I recommend going there by boat, it\u2019s beautiful and quick.<\/em><\/p>\n

Eu recomendo ir de barco, \u00e9 lindo e r\u00e1pido.<\/p>\n

O outro uso do \u201cby\u201d \u00e9 pra indicar quem realizou aquela a\u00e7\u00e3o, como vimos nesse trecho:<\/p>\n

They were taken to the hospitals by their parents.<\/em><\/p>\n

Eles foram levados aos hospitais por seus pais.<\/p>\n

O foco aqui \u00e9 que eles foram levados aos hospitais, e quem levou foram os pais! Olha mais dois exemplos:<\/p>\n

Hilary was interviewed by my sister.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jake was questioned by the police.<\/em><\/p>\n

Resumindo: dependendo do contexto, o \u201cby\u201d vai indicar o meio de transporte usado ou quem foi o autor daquela a\u00e7\u00e3o. E quero que voc\u00ea fique de olho no \u201cby\u201d na nossa pr\u00f3xima not\u00edcia, ok?<\/p>\n

Voc\u00ea ouviu falar das meninas Iranianas que come\u00e7aram um protesto contra o governo? Vamos ver em que p\u00e9 est\u00e1 essa hist\u00f3ria!<\/p>\n

Two prominent Iranian actresses, Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi, have been arrested for publicly supporting mass anti-government protests. Both women had appeared in public without their headscarves – in a gesture of solidarity with demonstrators.<\/em><\/p>\n

The protests erupted in September after the death of a woman in police custody and included a very vocal response from high school students.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mahsa Amini, 22, was detained by morality police in the capital, Tehran, for allegedly breaking the strict hijab rules. She died on the 16th of September, three days after being captured, but police denied that she was mistreated and said she suffered a \u201cheart attack.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Ms Ghaziani and Ms Riahi – both multiple-award winning actresses – were detained on Sunday on the orders of Iran’s prosecutor’s office, and before the arrest Ms Ghaziani wrote on social media that “whatever happens, know that as always I will stand with the people of Iran. This may be my last post”.<\/em><\/p>\n

The actresses are among a number of high-profile Iranian public figures to have expressed support for the protests against the country’s government. Human rights activists have said that around 400 demonstrators have been killed and 16,800 others arrested by security forces.<\/em><\/p>\n

At least five protesters have been sentenced to death in connection with the demonstrations.<\/em><\/p>\n
