As\u00ed de simple. Y s\u00ed, este condicional es tu pase libre para sonar natural cuando hablas de reglas, h\u00e1bitos o hechos que nunca fallan. En este art\u00edculo te voy a mostrar c\u00f3mo usarlo sin complicaciones: cu\u00e1ndo aplicarlo, su estructura b\u00e1sica, diferencias con otros condicionales, errores t\u00edpicos que debes esquivar y c\u00f3mo dominarlo con ejemplos que vas a querer usar ya mismo. \u00a1Sigue leyendo y convi\u00e9rtete en el rey del <em>zero conditional<\/em>!<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfQu\u00e9 es el <em>zero conditional<\/em> en ingl\u00e9s?<\/h2>\n<p>El <em>zero conditional<\/em> en ingl\u00e9s es esa f\u00f3rmula m\u00e1gica que usamos cuando queremos hablar de cosas que siempre, pero siempre, pasan si se cumple una condici\u00f3n. \u00bfSabes ese rollo de \u00absi hago esto, pasa aquello\u00bb? Exacto. En ingl\u00e9s se ve as\u00ed: <em>if + presente simple, presente simple<\/em>. F\u00e1cil, \u00bfverdad? Por ejemplo: <em>If you heat water, it boils<\/em> (Si calientas agua, hierve). Mira cu\u00e1ndo lo usamos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reglas cient\u00edficas: <em>If you mix red and blue, you get purple<\/em> (Si mezclas rojo y azul, obtienes morado).<\/li>\n<li>Rutinas de toda la vida: <em>If I wake up early, I go for a run<\/em> (Si me despierto temprano, salgo a correr).<\/li>\n<li>Consejos b\u00e1sicos: <em>If you press this button, the machine stops<\/em> (Si presionas este bot\u00f3n, la m\u00e1quina se detiene).<\/li>\n<li>Verdades universales: <em>If the sun sets, it gets dark<\/em> (Si el sol se pone, se oscurece).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As\u00ed que ya sabes, cuando algo pasa siempre, sin excepci\u00f3n, \u00a1el <em>zero conditional<\/em> es tu mejor amigo!<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfCu\u00e1l es la estructura del zero conditional?<\/h2>\n<p>La receta es s\u00faper sencilla:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>if<\/em> + presente simple, presente simple<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Algunos ejemplos para que lo veas en acci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>If you study, you learn<\/em> (Si estudias, aprendes).<\/li>\n<li><em>If it rains, the grass gets wet<\/em> (Si llueve, el pasto se moja).<\/li>\n<li><em>If people eat too much, they gain weight<\/em> (Si las personas comen demasiado, suben de peso).<\/li>\n<li><em>If I\u2019m tired, I go to bed early<\/em> (Si estoy cansado, me acuesto temprano).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00bfLa clave? No te salgas del presente simple. Nada de futuros ni pasados aqu\u00ed, \u00bfvale?<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfQu\u00e9 diferencia al <em>zero conditional<\/em> de otros condicionales?<\/h2>\n<p>Ok, aqu\u00ed es donde muchos se confunden. El <em>zero conditional<\/em> no es lo mismo que el <em>first conditional<\/em>, ni sus primos <em>second<\/em> y <em>third<\/em>. Vamos al grano:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zero conditional:<\/strong> habla de cosas que <strong>siempre<\/strong> son ciertas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First conditional:<\/strong> habla de cosas que <strong>probablemente<\/strong> pasen en el futuro.<\/p>\n<p>Comparaci\u00f3n directa:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>If you don\u2019t water plants, they die<\/em> (Si no riegas las plantas, mueren). \u2192 <strong>Zero conditional<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>If you don\u2019t water the plants, they will die<\/em> (Si no riegas las plantas, morir\u00e1n). \u2192 <strong>First conditional<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00bfNotas la diferencia? En el primero, es un hecho. En el segundo, es probable.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es importante dominar el <em>zero conditional<\/em>?<\/h2>\n<p>\u00a1Porque te va a salvar la vida hablando ingl\u00e9s! Vas a usar presente simple en las dos partes, y listo. As\u00ed lo haces:<\/p>\n<p><strong>if + sujeto + verbo (presente), sujeto + verbo (presente)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mira estos ejemplos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>If you touch fire, you get burned<\/em> (Si tocas fuego, te quemas).<\/li>\n<li><em>If I eat too much, I feel sick<\/em> (Si como demasiado, me siento mal).<\/li>\n<li><em>If we run fast, we get tired quickly<\/em> (Si corremos r\u00e1pido, nos cansamos r\u00e1pido).<\/li>\n<li><em>If they work hard, they succeed<\/em> (Si trabajan duro, tienen \u00e9xito).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se forman las oraciones negativas?<\/h2>\n<p>Negar algo en el <em>zero conditional<\/em> es igual de f\u00e1cil. Solo pones <strong>don\u2019t<\/strong> o <strong>doesn\u2019t<\/strong> seg\u00fan el sujeto:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>don\u2019t<\/strong> \u2192 con <strong>I, you, we, they<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>doesn\u2019t<\/strong> \u2192 con <strong>he, she, it<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Veamos c\u00f3mo funciona:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>If you don\u2019t water the plants, they die<\/em> (Si no riegas las plantas, se mueren).<\/li>\n<li><em>If he doesn\u2019t study, he fails the test<\/em> (Si \u00e9l no estudia, reprueba el examen).<\/li>\n<li><em>If we don\u2019t leave now, we miss the train<\/em> (Si no salimos ahora, perdemos el tren).<\/li>\n<li><em>If it doesn\u2019t rain, the crops die<\/em> (Si no llueve, los cultivos mueren).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00bfEs posible invertir las partes de la oraci\u00f3n?<\/h2>\n<p>\u00a1S\u00ed, totalmente! Puedes empezar con la parte del <em>if<\/em> o dejarla al final. Solo recuerda: si empieza con <em>if<\/em>, pon una coma antes de la segunda parte. S\u00ed, el <em>zero conditional<\/em> tambi\u00e9n acepta a sus amigos <strong>when<\/strong>, <strong>whenever<\/strong> y <strong>as soon as<\/strong>.
