A story that began in 2017, born from an unusual international partnership between two friends - a Brazilian and a New Zealander - who literally invested everything they had in pursuit of a dream: democratizing language learning. And thus, Fluency Academy was born.
One year later, one of Fluency's major highlights is developed: Memhack, our own Spaced Repetition Software. A breakthrough in language memorization! An integrated app that allows you to remember everything you've studied in a practical way, always available in the palm of your hand.
In addition to the English course with Rhavi Carneiro, we welcomed two new languages to Fluency: Spanish and French. This was also the year when we experienced a period of expansion, accompanied by a significant increase in the number of teachers and content production.
A significant achievement for Fluency: we partnered with UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) to teach Portuguese to refugees in the country, improving their adaptation and quality of life here in Brazil. In the same year, one of the major projects in our history was born: the Fluency TV Portal, offering free content, videos, and podcasts in various languages.
One of the major milestones in our history was the addition of 7 influencers and top 10 teachers in Brazil. Fluency expanded to other countries: we brought English language education to Latin American countries. And to cap off the year, we introduced two new languages to our school: Japanese and Mandarin.
In addition to Latin America, Fluency expanded language education and became even more global, reaching regions in Europe, India, and Arab countries. We innovated once again in the realm of English fluency with the launch of Fluency Talks, our podcast featuring exclusive content in Portuguese and English to practice listening and conversation.
At this very moment, we are the largest language school in Latin America, offering 8 languages in our curriculum (English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin) and have reached the milestone of +300,000 fluent students! In total, we are more than 30.4 million people on social media who are living the dream of learning a new language. What about you? Ready to join this movement?
