Texto: Winter Life in Alaska 🧊 

In many places around the world, winter is a season where the weather gets just a little bit colder. People will wear a jacket and maybe light a fire by the fireplace, but most aspects of life remain the same.

However, that is not the case in Anchorage, Alaska, which is the place where I live. Here, the winter season is something we have to take seriously in order to survive. The average temperature during the cold months is around -10ºC. Thanks to modern-day technology, the cities in Alaska are well prepared to deal with the cold weather and harsh snow.

There are pros and cons of living in a place that snows a lot. The cool part is that people get to practice winter sports like snow skiing and ice skating. My favorite winter activity is to build a snowman with my family. Besides that, people usually dress better during the winter, it’s always nice to wear your favorite coat while you sip hot chocolate by the fire. Oh, and let’s not forget that the pictures usually look amazing during the winter when it’s white outside.

On the other hand, living in Alaska brings many challenges. During the winter, people need to shovel snow out of their driveway every day in order to leave the house with their cars. Another problem is that the roads get covered with ice, which causes many car accidents every year. Also, everytime you leave the house, you need to wear many layers of clothes so you don’t freeze outside. It’s also worth mentioning that the electricity bill goes through the roof because people leave the heater on the entire time.

These are just a few examples of what it’s like to live in a cold city. To be honest, I love living in Alaska, even with all the challenges. I believe every place has its own beauty, and we should learn to embrace it. Have you ever been to a cold and snow city? What was your experience like?
